This means it can be dropped into any standard kitchen bench, eliminating the need for granite or stone benchtops. Granite, stone and similar materials will remain the preferred option for many Outdoor Kitchen owners, giving a look of sophistication and quality, to match the same characteristics in the Heatlie Island Gourmet Elite.

Designed to fit into standard benchtops…
This bbq will fit into a standard 600mm benchtop. Another bonus for Outdoor Kitchen owners who have had their kitchen built but are yet to choose their bbq, and easy for builders and cabinet makers too, eliminating the need for a non-standard bench to be manufactured.

Flame failure as standard…
This safety feature is often a standard requirement for many Outdoor Kitchen installations. It is now included in this new product as part of the gas tap configuration and is designed to cut the gas supply if the flame is extinguished by a gust of wind, for example.

Auto ignition…
As the knob on the Heatlie Island Gourmet Elite is turned, the piezo ignition automatically lights the bbq. No additional buttons to push and maintain. Easy, no fuss and works every time.

Easy to clean…
The Heatlie Island Gourmet Elite features a lift out plate and a separate fat container which allows for easy cleaning while still eliminating the risk of a flare up from dripping fat. The plate can be lifted out, pressure cleaned or scrubbed, then easily replaced for your next bbq. The fat container can be easily cleaned out also.

The Heatlie Island Gourmet Elite now arrives on your door step fully assembled, ready to drop into your benchtop and then to be connected to a gas supply. This bbq is comfortably lifted by 2 people. You will up and running in under 10 minutes, ready to cook on your new bbq.

LPG or Natural Gas… and Universal Gas
Bottled LPG and piped Natural Gas is able to be used safely on the Island Gourmet Elite. There is a small additional cost for the Natural Gas version. Heatlie were also successful in obtaining approval from the AGA (Australian Gas Association) for the use of Universal Gas, allowing this product to be used in other countries using this type of gas.

Cabinet

A 2, 3 or 4 door cabinet is currently available. This is made in our factory in Australia and is designed to house both the Island Gourmet models.

Seasoning the Plate

As the Heatlie Island Gourmet Elite hotplate is made from 5mm mild steel, it is recommended that the steel hotplate be ” seasoned” to reduce the likelihood of food sticking to the hotplate. This is achieved by following these simple steps:

  1. Wash hotplate using warm soapy water.
  2. Rinse and dry hotplate.
  3. Turn on barbecue and apply a layer of vegetable or cooking oil.
  4. Turn off barbecue.
  5. Wipe off layer of oil.

After cooking, scrape food particles off hotplate and apply a layer of cooking oil before storage. After continual use you will notice a brown film developing over the hotplate. This seasoning process will reduce the likelihood of food sticking to the hotplate.

It can be installed into any combustible material…
This barbecue is the only one on the market which is able to be installed directly into a bench and bench top made from combustible materials.

Comes fully assembled…

Heatlie BBQ Hotplates

Heatlie manufacture a range of hotplates to suit many applications and personal preferences. We recommend a 10mm mild steel plate for any commercial application or where the BBQ may be lit for any period of time. The 5mm mild steel plate will suit most domestic situations, but if for any reason the bbq will be left heating without food on the plate for longer than 5 minutes, you are best to choose the 10mm version.

Many customers request a stainless steel hotplate, and while this may not be the best option for heat transfer, they prefer the properties stainless steel provides. To ensure a good cooking surface for your Heatlie BBQ for the lifetime of your bbq, begin with seasoning the Heatlie hotplate by following the instructions below. This will ensure food does not stick to the plate and will protect from corrosion as well.

Seasoning your stainless steel hotplate. Before using your Heatlie stainless steel hotplate for the first time you will need to remove the lanolin coating by washing the plate with warm soapy water until you are no longer able to feel the sticky lanolin on your fingers when you touch the bbq plate. Rinse with clean water then cover with a light coating of cooking oil. Heat for 5 minutes (no longer), wipe off this layer of oil with a paper towel. Reapply another layer of oil and you are ready to cook.

All Heatlie BBQs feature automatic Dual Piezo ignition and removable legs. Heatlie BBQs can be made to suit Natural or LP gas. Available in three sizes; 700mm, 850mm and 1150mm (the size indicates the length of the hotplate.)

Stainless Steel BBQ

Stainless Steel BBQs are available in 3 sizes, 700mm, 850mm and 1150mm (the size indicates the length of the hotplate.)
